Gulf Coast Lactation has been such a helpful resource for our family! My husband and I attended the prenatal breastfeeding class. It was SO helpful to get on the same page about what breastfeeding + newborn life would look like for us and what we could expect. It truly set us up for success in this area. Our son had some trouble feeding while in the hospital and it was so reassuring to know that we knew exactly where to go for help once we got back home. I attended Milky Way Cafe the day after we came home with our son and was able to set up a private appointment with Scotty from there. Scotty has been absolutely amazing and so supportive through this journey. After a few private appointments and some wonderful recommendations, I am now successfully breast-feeding AND without the nipple shield!! I had no idea that a lactation consultant would come to your home... and what a difference that has made! When you're having issues breastfeeding, being in your own home helps so much. And the speed of service has been invaluable for us. Scotty came with such amazing recommendations from multiple people. And after meeting her the first time, she exceeded those recommendations! Scotty absolutely loves what she does and it shows. I honestly don't know where my baby and I would be without her. I have no doubt that anyone who works with Gulf Coast Lactation will feel the same! I do not have enough adequate words to express my gratitude toward the GCL group. I have always wanted to breastfeed, and I knew going into it that it could be challenging, especially with all of the obstacles moms can face in the beginning. I attended the breastfeeding class GCL offered and met with Scotty a few weeks before delivery to go over several things and prepare for our breastfeeding journey. Following delivery, I struggled with breastfeeding and immediately reached out to Scotty. She connected me with Cassie, another consultant, and she came to see me the following day after I was discharged. Cassie has been such a wonderful resource for my husband and me as we navigated and overcame several obstacles in the beginning. She was patient, encouraging, knowledgeable, and always willing to help us through each challenge we faced. Even now, with all of the progress our baby has made, both Cassie and Scotty are just a phone call away if we ever need them. Knowing that we have that continued support means so much to us.
